A painting I did for my sister. Acrylic on canvass.
A red moon is on the rise, sky fades from the black of the abyss to a light blue
resting ardently upon the horizon. Stars wheel in shapes common and alien. The
desert stirs, spires of rock jutting out in the distance. A mountain lake feeds the
waterfall, it drops once and again into the basin. A womb which has birthed our small
oasis. The monk holds out his amethist aglow with soft light, as he sits in the sand
mind centered- at peace, his comrade waits off in the distance, tending their fire. The
green dragon rides the sky, weaving its way through the curling clouds.
It heeds the monks call.

the problem my eye is having is the shinning purple is less "bright" then the white figure so instead of it feeling like glare it feels dim compared to the figure. Darken him up a bit maybe just on the opposite side of the glare (add some lighting affects) and it could strenthen what you want to convey.
